Instrat analyzed the profitability of investment in the new Ostrołęka C coal-fired power plant, which ended with investors (Energa and Enea) withdrawing from the investment in February 2020. The loss on the investment, we estimated, could have brought investors more than PLN 6 bn (EUR 1.4 bn), compared to more than PLN 1.5 bn (EUR 0.3 bn) cost of the abandoned investment about a year from construction launch. The legitimacy of the investment was investigated by the Supreme Audit Office. The investors (Orlen, PGNiG) are continuing the project as a gas-fired power plant.
