Public policy and communications expert. Patryk gained experience: as a public affairs manager in an international PR agency, one of organisers of the Impact CEE conferences and as a public servant at the Chancellery of the Sejm. His expertise focuses on the digital economy, urban mobility and energy sector. He studied at the University of Warsaw, Aarhus Universitet in Denmark and Kyungpook National University in South Korea. At Instrat Foundation he coordinates all communication activities.
On 19th September 2023 Instrat and Polityka Insight organised a debate in Brussels. The focus was on the challenges for energy policy after the upcoming parliamentary elections in Poland.
On 7th September 2023 our expert, Michał Smoleń, took stage with a keynote speech, where he presented the results of our energy modeling.
In September, distinguished experts will meet to introduce the Brussels audience to the energy challenges the new government will face after the parliamentary elections.
Instrat’s leadership has been reinforced by Agata Miazga, our new Chief Strategy Officer, a former public official who will co-lead growth and scale up impact. Agata’s main task is to prepare and implement a new strategy for the organisation.
Instrat becomes an institutional partner of the Economic Forum 2023 in Karpacz. We will host one of the blocks: ‘How to achieve the EU climate goals for 2030 with the participation of Poland?’.
18th May 2023 Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans visited the Eastern Greater Poland region, which is on track to phase out coal by 2024 – decades ahead of the rest of Poland. This initiative could serve as a model for the just transition of other coal regions in the country. However, decision bottlenecks in both Warsaw and Brussels threaten to hinder progress. Instrat works closely with stakeholders in the region to make the just transition happen.
Blanka Wawrzyniak and Marta Musidłowska describe how the Polish government keeps finding new ways to run afoul of the EU’s rule of law regulations for Visegrad Insight.
A recent report by Instrat shows that the largest industry sites in just four sectors of Polish manufacturing account for 15% of Poland’s total carbon dioxide emissions. In 2019 56 plants mainly producing cement, metals, fertilizers, coke and refined petroleum products generated 46 million tons of CO2. We show the data by industry, province and individual plants in the ranking and the map of emitters.
In the middle of each month we publish a set of key statistics on the coal market in Poland at www.instrat.pl/en and energy.instrat.pl Twitter account. The data is published with a 1.5-month delay, following announcements by the Energy Market Agency and the Industrial Development Agency Katowice Branch.
